Although the paddy land is cultivated, the farmers are unable to plant seedlings in severe winter. The lowest temperature recorded in Faridpur on Sunday was 12.04 degrees Celsius.

Due to the thick fog and winter, the people living in the grazing areas, fishermen and people cultivating the fields are spending their days in hardship. Besides, due to thick fog, various vehicles including motorcycles are moving on the road with their headlights on. It’s cold in mid-January. In Konkan there is no end to the suffering of people due to the cold and frosty winds and thick fog like rain.

It is known that severe winter and cold wind is blowing in the district for the last few days. The sky has been cloudy most of the time for the last four days. At the same time, from Saturday night till dawn, thick fog is falling like drizzle. Sometimes the sun peeks out, but most of the time it stays behind the clouds.

Day laborers and hardworking people are also crushed in winter due to thick fog and cold wind. The heat of sunlight is not getting through the fog cover. As a result, the intensity of winter is not decreasing. Many people are trying to save themselves from the cold by burning straw.

Nazir Mallik and Aftab Sheikh, farmers of Bilmamudpur-Kafura area of Faridpur Sadar Upazila, said that it has become almost impossible to work in the field due to the severity of winter. In the evening, it is not possible to leave the house because of the cold. In the morning and in the evening, we have to burn the straw to prevent winter.
