Coast Guard seizes Customs evaded Indian sarees-cosmetics of Tk 6 crore

The Coast Guard has seized Indian sarees and cosmetics worth Tk 6 crore evading customs duty in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

The goods were recovered from the Kanchpur Bridge area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Friday. At this time, 2 thousand 877 pieces of sarees, 1 thousand 8 pieces of body lotion, and 4 thousand 500 pieces of sun rice cream were seized.

Coast Guard said, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted by BCG Station Pagla under Bangladesh Coast Guard Dhaka Zone under the leadership of Station Commander Lt. Ruhan Manjur. During the raid, a truck carrying suspected stones bound for Dhaka from Sylhet was signaled to stop by Coast Guard personnel, but the truck ignored the signal and sped away.

The media officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, conveyed this through a circular. On Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Coast Guard members were able to chase and arrest the truck. Then the smugglers in the truck stopped the truck and fled quickly after realizing the presence of the Coast Guard. Later, the truck was searched.

The release informed us that the cosmetic goods and the truck would be handed over to Siddhirganj Police Station for further legal action.
