BRAC Bank has become the only Bangladeshi bank to feature in Forbes’ inaugural list of the “World’s Top Performing Banks 2026,” which includes 500 banks from 89 countries.
Forbes prepared the ranking in partnership with market research firm Statista, using objective financial data from leading providers such as S&P Capital IQ, along with research and information supplied by the banks.
The ranking evaluates banks across four key indicators: profitability, growth and earnings quality, capital and funding strength, and asset quality and efficiency. Banks were also grouped into six tiers based on asset size.
BRAC Bank was placed in Tier 5, categorised as a lower mid-sized bank, and ranked 73rd among the 500 banks on the global list.
Established in 1999, BRAC Bank currently has 7,483 employees, according to Forbes. Tareq Refat Ullah Khan is the bank’s managing director and chief executive officer.
Khan said the recognition was not only an achievement for BRAC Bank but also a significant accomplishment for Bangladesh. He attributed the bank’s inclusion to its long-term focus on governance, reputation, efficiency and sustainable growth while complying with regulatory requirements.
He also credited the bank’s employees, entrepreneurs, board members, shareholders and depositors for contributing to its performance.
