Notice seeking action against Fuad to protect DU’s reputation

B.Mirror Desk: A legal notice has been sent against AB Party leader Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, demanding legal and administrative action for making derogatory and malicious comments about Dhaka University (DU). At the same time, a compensation of 100 crore taka has been demanded from him for allegedly tarnishing the image of Dhaka University.
On Saturday (July 4), former law student of Dhaka University Tanmoy Kumar Saha sent the notice. In addition to Barrister Fuad, the notice also informed the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.
The legal notice states that some of Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad’s statements have damaged the long-standing historical tradition, reputation and international image of Dhaka University. These statements have caused mental distress and anger among the concerned, including former and current students of the university.
The notice alleges that Barrister Fuad has raised questions about the national contribution of Dhaka University graduates of the last 50 to 70 years and made negative comments against them. It is also claimed that he has made hateful, divisive and disrespectful comments about the respected teachers and faculty members of the university.
It further states that these statements have tarnished the dignity of Dhaka University, one of the oldest and most traditional higher education institutions in the country, and have damaged its reputation at the national and international levels.
The notice demands that Barrister Fuad deposit Tk 100 crore as exemplary compensation to the Dhaka University Research Fund. At the same time, it calls for taking necessary legal and administrative action in this incident.
However, no statement was received from Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad on this matter.
