Tamijuddin textiles clarifies factory closure post

Tamijuddin Textiles Mills PLC has clarified a Facebook post claiming that its factory had been shut down indefinitely, stating that production resumed on July 18 after a temporary suspension caused by labour unrest.

According to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), a Facebook post titled “Tamij Factory Closed until Further Notice” was published on July 15. Following the post, the DSE issued a query to the company on July 16 seeking clarification.

In its response, Tamijuddin Textiles said factory operations had been temporarily suspended from July 13 under Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006 due to labour unrest.

The company said the situation improved after constructive discussions and mutual understanding with the concerned stakeholders, allowing production to resume on July 18.

Tamijuddin Textiles also said it is currently assessing the financial impact of the temporary production suspension.
