Pubali Bank PLC. has organized an awareness program titled “Cashless Dhanmondi” as part of its efforts to promote digital payments and expand cashless transactions across Bangladesh through the nationwide implementation of Bangla QR.
The program, arranged by the bank’s Dhanmondi Branch at Rabindra Sarobar, was held under the slogan “লেনদেন হচ্ছে ক্যাশলেস, এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে বাংলাদেশ” (Transactions Are Going Cashless, Bangladesh Is Moving Forward). The event highlighted the convenience, security and role of cashless transactions in advancing digital financial inclusion.
State Minister for Planning Md. Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, MP, attended the event as the chief guest. Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Arief Hossain Khan and former Pubali Bank Managing Director Md. Abdul Halim Chowdhury were present as special guests.
Pubali Bank Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Ali delivered the welcome address. Among others present were Deputy Managing Director Md. Shahnewaz Khan, General Manager and Regional Head of Dhaka North Region A.K.M. Abdur Raqib, Deputy General Manager and Head of the Alternative Delivery Channel Division Md. Rabiul Alam, senior officials from the bank’s head office, customers and invited guests.
Speakers at the event emphasized that Bangla QR enables customers to make secure, fast and convenient digital payments across different banks and mobile financial service providers using a single QR code. They noted that the government’s efforts to reduce cash usage and build a technology-driven financial system are being supported by initiatives such as Cashless Dhanmondi, which they said would further strengthen Bangladesh’s digital economy.
Following the discussion, participants joined an awareness campaign on cashless transactions and called on the public to adopt Bangla QR to accelerate the country’s transition toward a digital payment ecosystem.
