Bangladesh China sign 15 cooperation deals to boost bilateral ties

B Mirror Report: Bangladesh and China have signed 15 bilateral cooperation instruments, including 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and two agreements, aimed at strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, infrastructure, education, technology, and other public interest sectors.

The agreements were signed during a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh Prime Minister Tareq Rahman and Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday, in the presence of the two leaders, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The PMO said the newly signed agreements are expected to elevate Dhaka-Beijing relations and deepen cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Rahman was accorded a red-carpet welcome and a guard of honour by the Chinese government at the Great Hall of the People.

PMO spokesperson Mahdi Amin said the Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.

He said the discussions with the Chinese leadership will focus on issues of national interest for Bangladesh, including increasing Chinese investment, creating employment opportunities, expanding bilateral trade, and strengthening strategic cooperation.

According to the spokesperson, the visit also aims to reinforce Bangladesh’s geopolitical and strategic position while advancing a balanced foreign policy.

The two sides are also expected to discuss expanding cooperation in people-to-people exchanges, education, culture, information technology, and healthcare.
