B Mirror Report : The New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) at Chittagong Port recorded its highest-ever monthly container handling volume in May, reflecting improved operational efficiency and growing trade activity.
According to officials of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), the terminal handled a record 126,496 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the month, averaging 4,081 TEUs per day.
Of the total volume, 59,851 TEUs were import containers, while 66,645 TEUs were export containers.
The May performance surpassed the terminal’s previous monthly record of 125,533 TEUs, set in October 2025, by 963 TEUs.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to extend the operating contract of Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) for an additional six months or until a new operator is appointed.
CDDL, which is managed by the Bangladesh Navy, assumed responsibility for operating the terminal on July 7, 2025, and will continue managing the facility until further notice.
