District administration launches anti-overcharging drive

Mrinal Tangail District Correspondent:  The Tangail District Administration has conducted a mobile court drive to prevent bus operators from charging passengers excessive fares. The operation was carried out on Monday morning at the New Bus Terminal under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Sajibul Islam Shuvo.
The mobile court inspected various bus counters of transport services operating from Tangail to different destinations to ensure that passengers were not being overcharged.
During the drive, Sonia Enterprise Counter, Shokal Shondha Enterprise Counter, and several other counters were fined and warned for failing to display the government-approved fare charts for passengers.
Members of law enforcement agencies were also present during the operation.
Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Sajibul Islam Shuvo said that the special drive was conducted under the directive of Tangail Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Sharifa Haque.
He added that as people have started returning to their destinations after Eid, the district administration has been conducting regular drives both before and after Eid to prevent the collection of excessive fares from passengers. The latest operation at the New Bus Terminal was part of that ongoing effort, and such drives will continue in the future.
