B Mirror Report: Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has said that the government is working to build a prosperous, self-reliant, democratic, safe and humane Bangladesh.
He made the remarks while exchanging views with senior police officials at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Monday (May 11) on the occasion of National Police Week-2026.
The Prime Minister said the police force would be developed into a truly people-friendly institution to meet public expectations. He added that the police administration acts as a “mirror” of the government, stressing that in cases of corruption, terrorism or crime, the focus must be on the offence itself rather than political identity.
He also said that effective performance by law enforcement agencies would further advance the country toward its goal of becoming a prosperous and self-reliant nation. Calling for greater professional development, he urged police personnel to build multi-dimensional skills, maintain a readiness to work in any environment, and ensure that professionalism is never compromised.
The Prime Minister further emphasized that the government would implement all commitments under the “July Charter.” He said honesty, merit and competence would be the key principles in recruitment, transfer and promotion within the police force.
He noted that public evaluation of the government largely depends on the role of the police, and therefore stressed the importance of developing humane qualities among members of the force.
