Indonesia-Bangladesh boost health ties at Dhaka expo

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka (KBRI Dhaka) facilitated the participation of four leading Indonesian hospitals at the International Health Tourism and Services Expo held in Dhaka from May 7–9, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector with Bangladesh.

The participating institutions included Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National Referral Hospital (RSCM), Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center, Dharmais National Cancer Hospital, and Siloam Hospitals Group.

Alongside the exhibition, KBRI Dhaka organized a Business Gathering and Networking Session and arranged meetings with key healthcare stakeholders in Bangladesh to promote Indonesia as a regional health tourism destination.

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Listyowati, said the initiative aimed to go beyond showcasing healthcare services and to strengthen institutional partnerships between the two countries. She highlighted opportunities for collaboration in capacity building, expert exchange, training, and medical services development.
During the visit, the Indonesian delegation also met with Bangladesh’s Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to discuss further cooperation, including joint programs benefiting both nations.

The embassy additionally arranged visits for Indonesian hospital representatives to major Bangladeshi healthcare institutions, including United Hospital, the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, and the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Siloam Hospitals Group and GD Assist Bangladesh on May 8, 2026, aimed at encouraging Bangladeshi patients to seek medical treatment in Indonesia.

Officials described the visit as productive, with both sides expressing commitment to expanding collaboration in healthcare services, medical tourism, and human resource development in the health sector.
