B Mirror Report: A meeting of the committee on water management was held today with Tarique Rahman in the chair.
The meeting took place this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat, said Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, State Minister Forhad Hossain Azad, water resources expert Ainun Nishat, and senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.
Later, the Water Resources Minister said the discussion focused on preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, as the risk of floods and waterlogging increases.
He said the government reviewed preparedness plans and ongoing development activities to reduce potential flood impacts.
The minister also noted that canal excavation work is continuing, adding that the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate canal excavation programmes in Jashore on April 27 and in Sylhet on May 2.
