Bangladesh, UK sign MoU to enhance aviation investment

B Mirror Report: Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in public-private partnerships (PPPs), aiming to boost investment and sustainable infrastructure development in the aviation sector.

The MoU was signed on Tuesday by Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, CEO of the PPP Authority of Bangladesh, and Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, in the presence of UK Trade Envoy Baroness Rosie Winterton of Doncaster, according to an official statement.

Baroness Winterton, currently visiting Dhaka to reinforce and expand the long-standing UK-Bangladesh trade and economic partnership, highlighted the two countries’ close economic ties. She said the agreement reflects a shared ambition to develop an aviation sector that promotes trade, tourism, and overall economic growth.

British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke described the UK as one of Bangladesh’s largest investors and reaffirmed its commitment as a reliable long-term economic partner.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat emphasized that the MoU would further strengthen bilateral partnerships and business ties between the two countries.

Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun called the MoU an important step forward and acknowledged the support of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in bringing the initiative to fruition.

The agreement is expected to pave the way for increased investment and sustainable development in Bangladesh’s aviation sector, reinforcing cooperation between Dhaka and London.
