B Mirror Report: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed hope that the World Bank would maintain its ongoing cooperation to support Bangladesh’s overall development.
The remarks came during a meeting with a World Bank delegation, led by Jean Pesme, World Bank Division Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, at the minister’s office at the secretariat.
Minister Fakhrul thanked the World Bank for its continuous assistance and emphasized that such collaboration is vital for sustaining the country’s progress. He highlighted the significant achievements Bangladesh has made in agriculture and food security with the support of the development partner.
The minister also urged expanding the scope of cooperation to further strengthen these sectors and ensure lasting development outcomes.
Jean Pesme congratulated the minister on Bangladesh’s progress and emphasized the need to expedite ongoing development projects. He expressed optimism about increasing support in the government’s priority areas.
Secretary of the Local Government Division Md Shahidul Hasan, along with other senior officials from the ministry and relevant departments, were present at the meeting.
