Tribute at Begum Khaleda Zia’s Mausoleum

Tribute Paid at the Mausoleum of Begum Khaleda Zia on Joint Initiative of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees’ Union and Jatiyatabadi Forum

On the joint initiative of the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees’ Union, B-985 (CBA), and the Jatiyatabadi Forum, homage was paid today, Thursday at 10:00 am, at the mausoleum of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia.

The mausoleum premises witnessed a deeply emotional atmosphere with the spontaneous presence of people from all walks of life. Those present at the tribute ceremony included Chief Coordinator of the Jatiyatabadi Forum (Deputy General Manager) Md. Zahid Hossain, Co-Coordinator (Deputy General Manager) Syed Liaqat Hossain, President of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees’ Union, B-985 (CBA), Fayez Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Md. Miraj Hossain, Chief Regional Manager (DGM) of Narayanganj Md. Alauddin, along with officers and employees of the bank from various levels.

Floral wreaths were placed at the mausoleum, followed by special prayers and munajat seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia. Filled with the fragrance of flowers, the mausoleum premises turned into a gathering marked by deep respect, love, and emotion.

Arrangements were also made for continuous recitation of the Holy Quran throughout the day beside the mausoleum. Through uninterrupted recitation and prayers, visiting worshippers and devotees prayed for the peace of her soul. In an atmosphere of religious solemnity and tranquility, the entire area became a sacred place of remembrance and supplication.

The leaders said that Begum Khaleda Zia’s life was not merely a personal story, but a significant chapter in the political history of Bangladesh. Although her entry into politics after the martyrdom of President Ziaur Rahman in 1981 was sudden, she assumed leadership with courage, determination, and sacrifice. Her contributions to the movement against military rule, the restoration of democracy, and the establishment of voting rights are undeniable in history.

Despite holding state power multiple times, she endured imprisonment, political persecution, physical illness, and a long path of struggle. Yet, with her uncompromising leadership, she never deviated from her ideals until the end of her life. Transforming personal grief from the loss of her husband to political isolation into strength, she emerged as a symbol of trust for pro-democracy forces.

The vacuum created in Bangladesh’s politics by the death of Begum Khaleda Zia will not be easily filled. Her sacrifices, struggles, and leadership will remain eternally remembered in history. Today, amid reverence, love, and Quranic recitation, the mausoleum of Begum Zia stood witness to a profound moment of remembrance and honor.
