Most DSE Share Prices Rise After Five-Day Slump

B Mirror Report : After five consecutive trading days of decline, on the second trading day of the current week Monday (22 December) prices of most traded shares and units increased at the country’s main capital market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

On this day, the number of securities whose prices increased was eight times higher than the number whose prices declined. As a result, all the indices of the exchange also rose. At the same time, overall trading turnover increased by more than one hundred crore taka. In the other capital market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), prices of most securities and all indices increased as well, along with a rise in overall trading activity.

Market analysis shows that on Monday, shares and units of a total of 388 companies were traded on the DSE. Among the participating companies, prices increased for 388 securities, while prices declined for 37. The number of securities that gained was 8.16 times higher than those that lost. By the end of the day, prices of 49 securities remained unchanged.

Due to the price increase of most securities, the DSE’s main index, DSEX, rose by 48 points to reach 4,875 points. Among other indices, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) increased by 8 points to 1,007 points, and the DS-30 index rose by 18 points to stand at 1,871 points.

Today, shares and units worth Tk 395.95 crore were traded on the DSE. Yesterday, securities worth Tk 293.21 crore were traded. That means trading on the exchange increased by Tk 102.74 crore in a single day.

In the country’s other capital market, the CSE, all indices also increased today. Among them, the overall index CASPI rose by 48 points to reach 13,609 points, while the main index CSCX increased by 26 points to stand at 8,391 points.

On Monday, a total of 155 securities were traded on the exchange. Of these, prices increased for 88 securities, declined for 50, and remained unchanged for 17.

At the CSE, securities worth Tk 15.39 crore were traded today. Yesterday, shares and units worth Tk 12.47 crore were traded.
