Fire Hits Tungipara Express Engine Near Bheramara

Juile Kushtia Correspondent: A sudden fire broke out in the engine of the Tungipara Express near Bheramara Railway Station in Kushtia, causing the train to come to an abrupt halt. Local residents, bystanders, and later the Bheramara Fire Service rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, no significant damage or injuries to passengers were reported.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 12, at around 4:55 PM, near the Bheramara railway station.

Rajib Kumar Biswas, Station Master at Bheramara Railway Station, confirmed the incident. He stated that the Tungipara Express, which had departed from Rajshahi and was en route to Tungipara, caught fire near the station. Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the engine, which quickly became inoperative, bringing the entire train to a stop.

Efforts from the train driver, onboard staff, local residents, and eventually firefighters helped bring the blaze under control. However, the engine was left disabled.

As a result of the incident, the station’s down line (track 2) was blocked, but trains continued operating normally on up line (track 1).

Rajib Kumar Biswas added that a relief engine was dispatched from Ishwardi. After nearly three hours, the relief engine arrived and at 8:20 PM, the Tungipara Express resumed its journey toward its destination.
