A son is born in the home of martyred firefighter Nurul Huda

A new life has been born into the family of firefighter Md. Nurul Huda, who sacrificed his life in the devastating fire at the chemical warehouse in Tongi. Twelve days after his father’s death, his son was born at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. But although this child has come into the world, he will never get to see the father who gave his life for the country.

It may be recalled that on September 22 at around 3:45 p.m., firefighter Nurul Huda sustained severe burns while extinguishing the fire at a chemical warehouse in the Sahara Market area of Tongi. He was later admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in critical condition. After fighting for his life, the brave firefighter passed away there on September 24 at 2:40 p.m.

In the same incident, firefighter Shamim Ahmed and warehouse inspector Khandaker Jannatul Naeem also lost their lives.

Firefighter Md. Nurul Huda was born on July 21, 1987, in a respected Muslim family in Dhamail village under Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district. He joined the Fire Service and Civil Defence as a firefighter on March 29, 2007. Besides the newborn baby boy, Nurul Huda is survived by a 10-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son.
