anchagarh Correspondent – The District Commissioner of Panchagarh, Mohammad Sabet Ali, announced that the local administration is committed to enhancing the tourism sector in the region, with a special focus on Tetulia. He emphasized the significant potential for tourism in the district, noting that one-third of the region’s tourism activities are centered in Tetulia, a picturesque area popular for its natural beauty and scenic views.
Tetulia, especially during the winter months, draws a large number of tourists who visit to witness the breathtaking sight of Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, from Bangladeshi soil. Besides this, Tetulia offers other attractions such as tea gardens in the plains, the Bangladesh-India border at Banglabandha Zero Point, the Ananddhara of Kazi & Kazi, and the historical market of Tetulia, where tourists can enjoy a panoramic view of the neighboring Indian landscape.
One of the most enchanting aspects of Tetulia is its lush, green environment and the ancient Dak Bangla (rest house) perched on a hilltop, which has captivated many visitors over the years.
In response to local demands for further tourism infrastructure development, the District Commissioner confirmed that the administration will take several initiatives. Among these plans is the construction of a swimming pool and various other projects aimed at improving Tetulia’s appeal as a tourist destination.
The District Commissioner made these remarks during an inspection tour of several ongoing infrastructure development projects in Tetulia on Monday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, he visited the 5th Buraburi Union Parishad at 11:00 AM, followed by a tour of other key locations in the area. These included Mahamudul Islam Mamun’s award-winning Akash Tolar Library, the Tetulia Children’s School, Tetulia Model Police Station, Tetulia Upazila Parishad, Picnic Corner, Dak Bangla, Berang Complex, and the ongoing improvements at the Mahenanda Park.
Additionally, the District Commissioner conducted a field visit to the Dakhuk River’s stone quarry in order to raise public awareness about the illegal operation of dredging machines. In a bid to combat the issue, he met with workers and discussed the matter on-site.
Accompanying the District Commissioner during these visits were Upazila Executive Officer Afroze Shaheen Khorshu, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Land Mohan Minji, and Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nahid Hasan.
With these initiatives, the local administration aims to boost the tourism industry in Tetulia and bring about significant improvements to the infrastructure of the area.
