This week, the stock market ended with mixed reactions in the index. As a result, the market capitalization of the country’s main capital market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by Tk 4,216 crore in the past week.
This information was revealed from the weekly update report of the capital market.
The market capitalization of the DSE increased by 0.60 percent or Tk 4,216 crore in the past week. On the last working day of this week, the market capitalization of the DSE stood at Tk 7,12,223 crore. On the last working day of the previous week, this capitalization was Tk 7,80,707 crore.
This week, two indexes of the DSE saw an increase. The primary price index, known as the DSEX, rose by 51.38 points, which is equivalent to a 0.95 percent increase. Additionally, the DSE-30 index experienced a rise of 24.58 points, or 1.18 percent. Conversely, the DSES index fell by 2.08 points, representing a decrease of 0.18 percent.
In conjunction with the fluctuations in the index, the transaction volume on the DSE has declined. The total transactions recorded on the DSE for the week amounted to 4,194.31 crore taka, compared to 4,297.23 crore taka in the previous week. This indicates a decrease of 102.92 crore taka over the course of one week.
The average transactions per working day also saw a reduction, dropping by 200.58 crore taka, or 2.40 percent. During the current week, the average transactions on the DSE were 838.86 crore taka, while the average daily transactions from the previous week stood at 859.44 crore taka.
Throughout the week, 393 businesses’ shares and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE. Of them, 222 saw price decreases, 140 saw price increases, and 31 saw no change in share prices.
