BM Desk : The Special Security Force (SSF) has been directed by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to minimize public hardship while operating professionally and putting political beliefs aside.During their 39th establishment anniversary celebration at the Chief Adviser’s Office on Wednesday, he stated, “I hope SSF will successfully fulfill all the responsibilities entrusted to it, not by isolating the public, but through a mix of public relations and security.”
Prof. Yunus stated that the issues of character strength, excellent discipline, honesty, accountability, and human values must be taken seriously in addition to learning professional skills for providing security to state-declared VIPs. “And above all political ideas, we must operate with professionalism,” he stated. Expressing gratitude to the Director General of SSF and all its members, Prof Yunus stated his belief that with effective leadership, appropriate guidance, and the professionalism and dedication of each member, SSF will continue to progress.
Previously, Prof Yunus noted that all flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were halted for approximately one hour for VIP flights.”This caused numerous complications. I have removed this restriction. I am optimistic that this will alleviate the difficulties faced by regular passengers,” remarked the Chief Adviser.He expressed confidence in the ongoing modernization of SSF’s training, weaponry, and equipment.Specifically, on August 5, 2024, some vehicles and equipment belonging to this force were damaged, but they were made operational again in a short period.
Moreover, efforts to enhance the capabilities of each member through the adoption of cutting-edge weapons and equipment, as well as advanced training both domestically and internationally, are ongoing to make the force’s operational activities more swift and effective.In today’s environment, Prof Yunus pointed out that the rapid advancement of modern technology and information sharing is altering the nature and type of security threats.As a result, he emphasized that achieving 100% security is a significant challenge. “Despite various constraints, SSF is effectively ensuring security.”Prof Yunus expressed hope that SSF would consistently assess various security threats and make all necessary preparations to address them.
Recently, the SSF has unified the cyber security system of Jamuna.”I trust that SSF will enhance the cyber security system of this office similarly. I also anticipate that SSF, as a professional entity, will progressively improve through the incorporation of advanced training, cutting-edge technology, and heightened morale,” stated the Chief Adviser.Regarding the SSF’s responsibilities, the Chief Adviser mentioned that the force secures Bangabhaban, his residence, office, and during his travels. He noted that it also plays a crucial role in ensuring security at various events both inside and outside Dhaka.
Additionally, he remarked that the SSF has effectively maintained security in Cox’s Bazar, the Rohingya camps, Chittagong Port, and during the convocation ceremony of Chittagong University that he attended.”Not only domestically but also internationally, during my state visits, the SSF has collaborated with various embassies and the protocol and security forces of the respective countries, contributing to the success of these visits,” he added.
Furthermore, Prof Yunus stated that this force successfully managed overall security during the state visits of the Malaysian Prime Minister, the President of East Timor, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who visited Bangladesh.Prof Yunus expressed his appreciation to the leaders of all services for selecting and dispatching capable officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and Ansar to transform the SSF into a modern and professional force.
“I particularly thank the Bangladesh Army for providing various forms of training support to the SSF,” he remarked.
