Nurul Sylhet Correspondent : The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an operation at Sylhet Railway Station following allegations of various irregularities. During this operation, initial evidence was uncovered regarding several claims, including ticket black marketing, irregularities in the construction of new platforms, and the misappropriation of funds through the unauthorized sale of old rods from the Railway Department.
The ACC has stated that it will recommend further investigation into these matters to the appropriate ministry.
The operation was carried out by the ACC Sylhet office starting at 12:30 pm on Wednesday (May 28).
Evidence of ticket black marketing at the station was discovered during the operation, and one individual associated with this activity has been identified. Additionally, it was revealed that new platforms were being constructed without proper design and that substandard materials were being utilized in the construction process.
Moreover, initial claims of embezzlement amounting to 1.5 lakh taka through the sale of 3 tons of old rods to the Railway Department without a tender have also been substantiated against certain officials of the Railway Engineering Department.
ACC Sylhet Regional Assistant Director Ashraf Uddin and ACC Sylhet Office Assistant Director Jewel Majumder, who oversaw the operation, indicated that a more thorough investigation will be pursued regarding these allegations.
