NEC sanctions Tk 2300 ADP for FY 25-26

B Mirror Desk: On Sunday, the National Economic Council (NEC) sanctioned the Annual Development Programme (ADP) with a budget of Tk 2300 billion for the fiscal year 2025–2026.

Additionally, a distinct development budget of around Tk 85.99 billion for autonomous bodies and corporations was also approved, as reported by Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud following the NEC meeting, according to UNB. This approval was granted during the NEC meeting held in the capital’s conference room, presided over by Chief Adviser and NEC Chairperson Prof Muhammad Yunus. Consistent with previous years, the ADP for FY 2025–26 has been crafted considering the nation’s available resources, foreign financing, and the overall macroeconomic landscape.

Priority has been assigned to ongoing projects financed by foreign loans and grants, initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, job creation, GDP growth acceleration, agriculture and agro-based industries, education, health, ICT, science and technology, power generation, disaster management and rehabilitation, and human resource development. Projects from various ministries and divisions that are directly associated with these focus areas have been prioritized.

The meeting included members of the Advisory Council, the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, members of the Planning Commission, senior secretaries, and other high-ranking officials from different ministries.
