Secularism is constantly practiced in Bangladesh: Home Advisor

BM Desk : Bangladesh always adheres to secularism, according to Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.), who stated on Saturday that there is no distinction between individuals of different religious faiths.

Bangladesh has consistently adhered to secularism. Secularism like that of Bangladesh does not exist anywhere else in the world. Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus all coexist here,” he remarked.

After examining the entire setup for the Maha Ashtami Snan (holy dip) festival, a major Hindu religious rite that is held every year at Langalbandh in Narayanganj, the Home Adviser was speaking to reporters.

There, hundreds of devotees from Bangladesh and other nations congregate to bathe in the sacred Brahmaputra River.

Jahangir urged everyone involved to improve the arrangements for a more joyous celebration of the holy occasion by taking the required actions.
In response to a query, he stated that there are no distinctions between the several religions practiced here.
“There are no distinctions between Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, or Hindus. There, everyone is a Bangladeshi, he remarked.

According to the Home Advisor, the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj has already announced Langalbandh as a tourist destination after consulting with the tourism ministry.
However, he added, “we must remember its sacred significance and sanctity.”
Since some local and international media sources frequently publish misleading information for their own purposes, Jahangir urged the media to create objective news in order to properly combat the bogus.
