Chief Adviser calls for lasting unity on Eid

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor to the interim government, emphasized the importance of enduring unity, describing Eid as an occasion to enhance national solidarity.

During his address before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan on Monday, March 31, Professor Yunus conveyed greetings on behalf of the nation.

“Eid Mubarak. Today, Eid celebrations are taking place in villages, towns, and cities throughout Bangladesh. I extend my heartfelt wishes to everyone present and to those who are unable to attend,” he stated.

He also sent Eid greetings to Bangladeshi expatriates, recognizing the challenges they face throughout the year.

“Many of our compatriots abroad may not be able to participate in Eid prayers. We remember them and also send our wishes to those in hospitals and others who cannot join in the celebrations,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made for the nation, he called for prayers for those who have lost their lives or faced struggles in the pursuit of the country’s advancement.

“Let us seek forgiveness for their souls and pray for those who have been injured or deprived of a normal life due to their sacrifices,” he urged.

Emphasizing the true spirit of Eid, Professor Yunus described it as a day of unity, love, and reconciliation.

“May we embrace this day with profound affection and share this message with all. Today, we aim to create an unbreakable bond, not just for the present but for the future,” he added.

He expressed hope that the spirit of togetherness would persist. “We pray that the closeness we experience today becomes a lasting reality, allowing us to progress as a united nation.”

Reflecting on the sacrifices made for a new Bangladesh, he called for perseverance in overcoming challenges. “Regardless of the hurdles we face, we will unite to create a new Bangladesh, InshaAllah.”

Earlier, Professor Yunus arrived at the National Eidgah Maidan, where he was greeted by senior government officials, accompanied by the Power and Energy Advisor.

The Eidgah Maidan hosted 35,000 worshippers, including high-ranking officials. After the Chief Advisor’s address, prayers were offered for the nation’s peace, prosperity, and welfare. Islamic sermons had been conducted at the venue since early morning.

Later in the day, Professor Yunus is scheduled to share Eid greetings with individuals from diverse backgrounds at his Tejgaon office at 4 pm.
