DBA seeks government intervention to quickly resolve BSEC situation

The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA), the stock brokers’ association of the capital market, has expressed deep concern over the incident that has occurred among the officials and employees inside the main regulatory body of the capital market, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). The organization has demanded the intervention of the government’s concerned ministry for a speedy resolution of this incident in the larger interest of the capital market.

This information was given in a press release signed by DBA Secretary Md. Didarul Gani on Thursday (March 6).

On behalf of the organization, President Saiful Islam said that while the country’s capital market is going through a transitional period due to various negative events and decisions at home and abroad for many years, millions of investors have lost their capital and become destitute, and market intermediary institutions are suffering from an existential crisis, the chaos created among the officials inside a very important institution like the regulatory body is not at all pleasant for the market. This incident has created deep concern and frustration among all those involved in the market, including investors. If the ongoing incident within the commission is not resolved quickly, the existing crisis of confidence in the market may become more pronounced and domestic and foreign investors may turn away from the market.

Saiful expressed his concern in this regard and said, “This incident within the commission will create anarchy and chaos in the market, ruining the investment environment in the market and destabilizing the market as a whole. Therefore, the ongoing chaos within the commission, which is harmful to the market, needs to be stopped immediately. We, on behalf of the association, are calling on the commission to restore the situation created in the commission to normal in the larger interest of the market and are demanding the intervention of the relevant government ministry in this regard.”

DBA specifically requests all those involved in the market to be partners in all the activities and relentless efforts of the current government for economic development.
