With renewed zeal in the new Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Coast Guard is developing at an unstoppable rate. This force is putting forth endless effort to create a safe, democratic, liberal, and nondiscriminatory coast. With the motto “Gurdian at Sea,” the Bangladesh Coast Guard was founded in 1994 with the goal of securing the economic and general well-being of the country’s 19 coastal regions, the nearby riverine areas, and the enormous sea area of 1 lakh 18 thousand 813 square kilometers in the Bay of Bengal. The Bangladesh Coast Guard’s adventure began on February 14, 1995.
Since its founding, every member of the Bangladesh Coast Guard has played a significant role in maintaining national security by maintaining a continual presence along the nation’s rivers, sea borders, and inaccessible coastal areas. As vigilant as a hawk, the Coast Guard continues to maintain a close watch on the riverine and coastal regions. These troops are doing a great job of preventing smuggling, protecting fish resources, stopping drug trafficking, conducting relief and rescue operations in the event of various natural catastrophes, safeguarding national interests, and protecting people’s lives and property in the nation’s internal rivers, sea routes, and coastal areas. Since the Chittagong port and outer anchorage areas are the primary hubs of the nation’s import-export trade, the Coast Guard has been effectively carrying out its duty in reducing crime and theft-robbery. Aside from this, there is no denying this force’s commitment to the preservation of the nation’s national resource, silver hilsa, the prevention of Jatka extinction, and the establishment of the government-designated fish sanctuary in the ocean. Many people have recently recognized the Coast Guard’s contribution to addressing the serious flood crisis in the country’s east and saving the lives of the victims.
Every member of this force is driven and committed to making the Bangladesh Coast Guard a powerful, effective, and efficient force as time goes on and extensive plans are expertly carried out.
