Listed British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) has decided to invest capital in solar power. The company will invest 11 crore 56 lakhs in this.
The decision regarding the investment was taken in the meeting of the company’s board of directors held on Wednesday (September 26). This information is known from the sources of Dhaka Stock Exchange.
According to sources, the company will install solar power panels on the roof of the company’s factory located in Savar at a cost of Tk 11.56 crore. One and a half megawatts of electricity will be available from here. The company will save 5 crore 10 lakh taka every year by using solar power. This facility will be available for the next 20 years. On the other hand, due to this solar power system, the factory will reduce carbon emissions by 944 tons per year.
The cost of setting up the solar power plant will be met through own funds and bank financing based on the company’s cash flow.
