Where have all the billionaires gone?

When the country is suffering from a severe national disaster by Corona virus pandemic, Bangladesh’s top billionaires have not come out yet with any help.

The global rich people including Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook already promised billions of dollars assistance from their part but Bangladesh richest men are keeping mum.

Bangladesh is now ardently need medical facility, dress for doctors and nurses and emergency food for poor and working class people.

The country has over fifty rich men who have property worth US$ 1.0 billion. Property worth between $500 and $1.0 billion has another 500 richest men.

“When the government is struggling to manage all those necessary medical equipment’s , hospitals to fight against Corona the rich people are staying home without any concern,” Abir Rahman, a senior consultant of Dhaka Medical College has told Business Mirror Tuesday.

“It is not only the concern of the government alone. The general people including poor and rich also have responsibility to their nation,” the doctor who is also a DAB leader said.

It is unfortunate that the rich people are only sucking milk of Bangladesh but they provide noting during disaster, Abu Hasan, a social worker said.

“Their children study abroad, they get treatment abroad, built second home abroad but earn money from the country,” it cannot be tolerated, Mahmuda Choudhury, a senior journalist said.

They don’t have any shame, they should must join their hands and provide financial assistance to government and NGOs to protect the nation from such global disaster, she added.
