More than 13 million expatriate Bangladeshis are working in 178 countries of the world. They keep the wheels of the economy moving by sending remittances earned through hard work. Many of them returned to the country for various reasons. The government has adopted a scheme for these expatriates.
A seminar on “Role of RAISE Scheme in Reintegration of Repatriated Migrant Workers” organized by Wage Earners Welfare Board was held on Wednesday.
Under the RAISE scheme, repatriated migrants get cash incentives, assistance in self-employment, assistance in getting loans, counseling, assistance in entrepreneurship training, skill certification and technical training facilities. A total of 2 lakh workers will be given incentives of Rs 13,500 per worker under this scheme.
Project Director (Joint Secretary) Sourendra Nath Saha was present as the chief guest in the program presided over by Mahmudul Haque, Deputy Commissioner, Narayanganj.
