Workshop on Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism

A workshop on the Prevention of Money Laundering & Combating Financing of Terrorism was
organized by the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) under the guidance of Pubali
Bank Limited, the lead bank. The workshop was attended by various public officials from all
commercial banks in Bandarban and Rangamati districts. Mohammad Ali, the Managing Director
and Chief Executive of Pubali Bank Limited, gracefully inaugurated the workshop through
virtual platform, delivering an insightful speech. Gracing the occasion as the esteemed chief
guest was Md. Arifuzzaman, the Director of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).
Additionally, the workshop was honored by the presence of special guest Mohammad Shahadat
Hossain, DMD and CAMLCO, Pubali Bank Limited, Mohammad Mohsin Hossaini, Additional
Director, BFIU, Shyam Sundar Banik, DCAMLCO and DH, AMLD, Pubali Bank, Mohammad Altab
Hossain, DGM and RM, Pubali Bank, regional office, Chittagong south region. The workshop
was chaired by Mohammad Abdur Rahim, General Manager of Pubali Bank Chittagong Principal
Office.
In the speech of the chief guest, Mr. Arif said, This workshop focused on ' Prevention of Money
laundering & Combating Financing of Terrorism' aims to enhance our understanding of the
correct policies and regulations necessary to combat the issues of money laundering and
terrorist financing. By bolstering our framework for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the
Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), we can adeptly confront these threats. The speaker
underscored the significance of conducting business in full adherence to relevant laws, thereby
safeguarding our economy and making a meaningful contribution to global security.
The workshop included comprehensive training sessions conducted by Tarun Tapan Tripura,
Joint Director of BFIU and Md. Rokon-Uz-Zaman Joint Director of BFIU.
