CEO of BGIC reappointed

The service of Mr. Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury Minto, Managing Director & CEO of Bangladesh General Insurance Company PLC. (BGIC) has been renewed for the 5^th consecutive term.

He joined BGIC Head Office, in 1986 and after two years he transferred to Chattogram Zonal office as Finance & Accounts in-charge.

After getting Promotion he was transferred to Head office Dhaka in the year 2009 as Additional Managing Director & Company Secretary. On 1^st August 2013, he took over the charge of Managing Director and CEO of BGIC.

BGIC’s 40th AGM held

The 40^th Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh General Insurance Co. PLC. (BGIC) was held on 22 June, 2025 on Virtual platform at Head office. At the beginning a special Dua was offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls of BGIC’s Founder late M.A. Samad and other member who departed earlier with the presented Shareholders. Chairman of the Company Mr. Towhid Samad Chaired the Meeting. A large number of Shareholders including Mr. Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO of the Company were present on the meeting.

BGIC, the first General Insurance Company in the private sector of Bangladesh approved 10% Cash Dividend on enhanced paid up capital of approximately Tk. 54.03 crore for the year 2024.

The meeting was also attended by Public Director Mr. Md. Shakil Rizvi, Nominated Director Mr. Mohammad Manjur Mahmud, Independent Director Mr. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and Senior Officials. Mr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director & Company Secretary Conducted the meeting smoothly.

BGIC Paid Fire Insurance Claim

VIP Industries Ltd. is the insured of Bangladesh General Insurance Company (BGIC) PLC. A terrible fire incident broke out in the VIP-1 Bag Factory of VIP Industries at Mangla EPZ, Khulna on January 31, 2023.

Accordingly, the insured VIP Industries applied to BGIC for on account advance payment, BGIC recovered Tk. 11 Crore from the foreign reinsurers through Broker Protection Re within the short time and handed over the insurance claim cheque to the insured VIP Industries on March 13, 2025 at the Head Office of BGIC.

BGIC’s Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury with senior officials and VIP’s Top management were present at the time of cheque handover.

BGIC Welcomed 2025

Bangladesh General Insurance Company PLC. (BGIC) welcomed 2025 with a marvelous function at the Head office. 1st January is also 102nd Birth anniversary of M A Samad, the Pioneer of Insurance Industry and Founder of BGIC. The event remembered his ideals and his contribution to the insurance industry.

The Chairman of the company Mr. Towhid Samad was the Chief Guest of the function and the function was chaired by Mr. Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO. The Chairman Mr. Towhid Samad directed to all concerned to give whole hearted efforts to maintain the growth of BGIC in coming days.

Hon’ble Directors, officers and employees of the Company were present at that time.

BGIC inks deal with One Bank

Corporate Agent (Bancassurance) Agreement signing Ceremony was made between Bangladesh General Insurance Company (BGIC) PLC. and ONE Bank PLC. Mr. Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury CEO of BGIC PLC. and Mr. Monzur Mofiz Managing Director of ONE Bank PLC. signed on behalf of their respective Organization.

Towhid Samad, Chairman of BGIC PLC. and A.S.M. Shahidullah Khan, Chairman of ONE Bank PLC. were present on the ceremony. Also Director of BGIC Shakil Rizvi and Manjur Mahmud were present on the ceremony along with senior officials of both Organizations. Recently Agreement Signing Ceremony was completed at the Head office of BGIC.

BGIC paid fire insurance claim

Accordingly, the insured VIP Industries applied to BGIC for on account advance payment on February 25, 2024. BGIC recovered Tk. Five Crore from the foreign reinsurer within the short time and handed over the partial insurance claim cheque to the insured VIP Industries on July 08, 2024 at the Head Office of BGIC.

Honorable Chairman of BGIC Towhid Samad and Chief Executive Officer of VIP Industries Anjan Mohanty were present in the Cheque Handover Ceremony. BGIC’s Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury with senior officials and VIP’s Top management were present.

Bir Uttam Abdur Rab’s 48th death anniversary

The 48th death anniversary of Major General (Retd.) Mohammad Abdur Rab, Bir Uttam, will be observed on Tuesday.

Requesting relatives and well-wishers to pray for the departed soul, Bangladesh General Insurance Company Limited issued a press release on Monday.

MA Rab was the chief of staff of Liberation Forces and the first honorary managing director of the `Mukti-joddha Kalyan Trust’.

He died at the capital’s Combined Military Hospital in 1975 at age 56.

held on 03 August 2023 on Virtual platform. Mr. Towhid Samad, Chairman of BGIC,
presided over the meeting which was attended by a large number of Shareholders
including Managing Director & CEO of the Company Mr. Ahmed Saifuddin Chowdhury.
