Special Committee on Campus Politics Begins Its Work at Dhaka University

Abdullah Bin Abed: The distinguished committee formed to examine the nature and practice of politics at Dhaka University has officially commenced its activities. The inaugural meeting of the committee was held today, November 23, 2024, in the Senate Building conference room.
The meeting was attended by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr. Syma Hossain Bidisha.
The committee is chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Mr. Abdul Matin and includes eminent members such as Dr. Z.N. Tahmida Begum, former Chairperson of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Dr. Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque, Chairman of Bangla Academy, and Dr. S.M. Shameem Reza, Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University. This information was disclosed in an official press release signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.
The meeting discussed key issues such as DUCSU elections, student politics in residential halls, and the improvement of teacher-student relations. To gather feedback from various stakeholders, the committee decided to establish a suggestion box and create a dedicated email address for input.
Through consultations with students, alumni, faculty, journalists, former DUCSU leaders, and other stakeholders, the committee will provide recommendations to the university administration on the nature and form of political practice on campus.
