Shahjalal islami Bank honors as best climate focus bank in Bangladesh

Shahjalal islami Bank PLC. has been awarded as “Best Climate Focus Bank” in Bangladesh in recognition to be one of top ten banks in sustainability rating by Bangladesh Bank in 24 National Renewable Energy Conference and Green Expo-2024.
The Institute of Energy, University of Dhaka and GreenTech Foundation jointly organized the award giving ceremony in the Senate Hall on Thursday. The Deputy Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. Mr. Imtiaz U. Ahmed received the award in the program. The program was chaired by Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) University of Dhaka.
Among others the former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman, the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, ambassador of Germany H.E. Achim Troster and ambassador of Sweden in Bangladesh H.E. Alex Berg von Linde were present in the program. 
All of the speakers focused upon the importance of financing more on green products for long term sustainability of the country. The speakers also emphasized upon climate finance for disaster prone areas of Bangladesh. In the program Mr. Sahabub Alam, AVP and Mr. Mohammad Manzur Rahman, AVP as members of Sustainable Finance Unit of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. were also present.
