Over 100 doctors and nurses across the country were infected by Covid-19 which doctors blames ignorance by DGHS. One doctors succumbs from viral infection in Dhaka while another from Khulna is struggling for life.
Dr Shahid Rafi Pavel, Chairman of Bangladesh Doctor Foundation, told Business Mirror that although the government allocated huge amount of money for fight against the pandemic, the money was not properly used by Directorate of Health.
“The Directorate General of Health Service not supply a single N-95 mask to doctors and nurses out side Dhaka. Besides, a private company JMI supplied low quality masks in the name of N95 and later withdrew it with seeking applogy ” Dr Pavel explained.
I can give you such hundred example of ignorance of Directorate of Health, he added.
The doctors association chairman claims nearly 250 doctors in different hospitals have so-far been infected from the diseases.
“Only doctors in Kishoreganj district hospital infected 41 doctors by coronavirus.“ he added.
Earlier, on Thursday the health ministry following The Prime Minister Sheikh’s directives a high powered committee was formed to monitor the supply.
Finance ministry sources said the Health and Family Welfare Ministry has so far spent TK 400 cr to buy masks, kits, personal protection equipment (PPE) , shoes covers, accommodation of the doctors , nurse , staffs for protection from the deadly corona virus-infected people in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) first time tried to rent 20 hotels, especially in Dhaka city the under the program of quarantine express by . But this program was failed because of non cooperation shown by the doctors, the DGHS sources said.
Health minister Zahid Maleque told The Business Mirror that there is no shortage of funds from the government.
He said “Doctors, nurses and health workers who are serving COVID-19 patients are now getting the doremetary facilities to ensure they are isolated“
It is sort of a quarantine facility so that the family members of the doctors and nurses are safe,” he said
