The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the tax return submission time until June 29 without penalty. The NBR on Monday, June 1, 2020 issued a circular in this connection.
As a result, taxpayers who have not been able to file their income tax returns between March 26 and May 30 this year will be able to file their income tax returns within new deadline.
The order, signed by Alamgir Hossain, NBR member (policy) said the deadline for carrying out all timely activities under the Income Tax Ordinance, 1984, Income Tax Rules, 1984 and office system for all classes of taxpayers and withholding tax authorities has passed between 26 March 2020 and 30 May 2020. In all these cases, the period from March 26 to May 30 has been extended to June 29, 2020.
The NBR order also stated that no interest or penalty would be applicable for the revised period.
