The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started interrogating three people, including a doctor of the Central Medical Supply Depot (CMSD), in connection with the purchase of mask-PPE. A ACC team led director Mir Mohammad Zainul Abedin Shibli is interrogating at the ACC head office on Sunday from 10 am.
Those who are being questioned are, CMSD Assistant Director (Administration) Dr. Md. Shahjahan, former desk officer Sabbir Ahmed, Store Officer Kabir Ahmed. ACC Public Relations Officer (Director) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the information to reporters.
Earlier, a notice was sent to them on July 12. In the meantime, the chairman of Messrs. JMI Hospital Require Manufacturing Ltd. Md. Abdur Razzak, Toma Construction Coordinator (Medical Team) Matiur Rahman and Meditech Imaging Limited Director Humayun Kabir.
Officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Health have been accused of embezzling crores of Tk in the name of supplying various hospitals, including the purchase of substandard masks, PPEs and other health equipment, through various irregularities, corruption and abuse of power. In addition, allegations of corruption and irregularities in CMSD’s 900 crore purchases were raised. On June 10, the ACC decided to investigate the matter.
