The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has decided not to hold income tax fair this year to prevent corona infection. Instead of holding the popular event however, tax service week will be observed in tax regions and circles during the fair, sources said. The taxpayers will get all kinds of services including return submission. The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the NBR. This information has been known from NBR sources.
The fair is popular among ordinary taxpayers as they wait for the fair where they can submit return and pay taxes at the tax fair without any hassle and in a festive atmosphere.
Sources further said that like every time, a small tent fair will be set up at the Officers Club. From there, the taxpayers will get all the services including the address, form, invoice, instructions for filling the income tax form of the return submission circle. And the tax zones will set up separate pendulums under their respective offices or set up booths at designated places in the offices
According to NBR sources, the first NBR income tax fair was organized in 2010. Although there was not much response in the beginning, over time the income tax fair became popular among the individual taxpayers. Every year a large portion of the taxpayers return to the fair. The fairs held in Dhaka and Chittagong gradually spread all over the country. Last year income tax fair was organized for 7 days at divisional level, 4 days at district level and also at upazila level.
