Rayhan Ahmed, Mymensingh: The Mymensingh District Office of the Environment Department conducted a drive against illegal brick kilns in the Mymensingh City Corporation area and in the areas called Madhyabarera and Ujanbarera of Sadar Upazil on Monday.
One brick kiln was completely demolished for violating Sections 15(1) and 18(2) of the Brick Manufacturing and Establishment of Kilns (Control) Act, 2013 (Amended 2019) during the moment. Three brick kilns were partially demolished and a total of thirteen brick kilns, including nine more, were fined Tk 78 lakh. Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Executive Magistrate of the Department of Environment, led the operation. Mr. Mahbubul Islam, Inspector of the Mymensingh District Office of the Department of Environment, and Md. Rukon Mia served as a prosecutor. A group of members of the Mymensingh District Police and Fire Service assisted in conducting the operation.
