Environment Department campaign against illegal polythene in Ishwarganj

Rayhan Ahmed, Mymensingh: A campaign against banned polythene and noise pollution was conducted in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday at the initiative of the Department of Environment, Mymensingh District Office.
In the said campaign, a total of 265 kg of banned illegal polythene was seized from Hamza Store, Saiful Store, Ujjal Store in Ishwarganj Bazar through the operation of a mobile court and a total fine of Tk 2,500 was imposed and collected from the shop owners. In addition, a fine of Tk 500 was imposed for causing noise pollution through a truck hydraulic horn and two hydraulic horns were seized.
As part of the awareness campaign to prevent the use of banned polythene and control noise pollution, leaflets against noise pollution were distributed and stickers were put up. The Government Commissioner (Land), Ishwarganj led the drive and Mr. Mahbubul Islam, Inspector of the Department of Environment, Mymensingh District Office, served as the prosecutor. A group of members of the Ishwarganj Police Station assisted in conducting the drive. Such drives will continue in the public interest.
