DU Correspondent: The academic website of Dhaka University (DU), used for managing student information and academic activities (www.ssl.du.ac.bd), was hacked on the night of November 28, shortly after 11 PM. This site, which is crucial for DU students’ academic management, was recently taken over by a hacker group. The hackers added a message to the website, expressing support for their claims.
After accessing the hacked website, visitors saw a message in English stating, “Hacked by Systemadminbd. We are Muslim Blackhats and Spy Agents.” In addition, a message in Bengali was displayed: “Message to the Dhaka University administration and Asif Nazrul: We call on DU students to intensify their movement on the ISKCON issue.”
The message urged DU students to unite and accelerate their protests against ISKCON. It also condemned the attempted killings of student leaders Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, calling for strong resistance against the violence they faced. The message further claimed, “ISKCON and Prothom Alo are directly controlled by Indian intelligence agencies,” and called on Asif Nazrul to abandon his one-sided views and take action against these entities.
The hackers clarified in their message that they were not part of any anti-national group and assured that no files on the server were damaged, emphasizing that the website had only been hacked to deliver their message. A link to the hacker’s Telegram channel, “Systemadminbd,” was also provided on the page.
This breach has raised significant concern among Dhaka University students. The university’s ICT cell has not yet issued any official statement regarding the cyber attack, leaving many questions unanswered.
It is important to note that www.ssl.du.ac.bd is not the main website of Dhaka University, but rather a subdomain that handles student academic activities and information management. The breach of this site has raised concerns over the security of students’ personal and academic data.
Students are increasingly worried that their information may have been compromised and could be accessed by unauthorized parties. As the university authorities have yet to comment on the incident, students are awaiting a detailed investigation and proper action from the administration.
