Delta Hospital electronic bidding raises skepticism of unfair price

Institutional investor’s vile approach towards electronic bidding system raises question whether the same syndicate replicate it in case of Delta Hospital Limited (DHL). The DHL electronic bidding to determine the cut-off price of ordinary shares will start March 22, 2020.

Market insiders apprehend this group could apply similar trick for the upcoming electronic bidding of DHL as they did it in case of Walton’s initial public offering.

Some eligible investors bid as low as Tk 12 for a stock of the electronics manufacturer that logged in profits of Tk 1,376 crore in its last financial year, while some placed bids as high as Tk 765, according to the Electronic Subscription System for EIs.

“A section of institutions with dodgy intention placed higher rate for Wallton to set extremely high price for the company. That was a clear syndication set by prior parley with issuer,” Habibur Rahman, a market analyst said.

The bidding period for eligible investors to determine the cut-off price of shares of Delta Hospital Limited through Electronic Subscription System (ESS) of the Exchanges will commence from 5:00 p.m. on March 22, 2020 and will continue till 5:00 p.m. on March 25, 2020, DSE sources said.

The valuation report submission period for eligible investors through ESS will start at 10:30 a.m. on March 29, 2020.
