Brac Bank elects Faruq Mayeenuddin as Vice Chairperson

Faruq Mayeenuddin, has been elected as the Vice Chairperson of the Brac Bank recently. Earlier, he had been serving as Independent Director to the Board since December 2021 and served also as the Chair of the Board Executive Committee of the Bank.

A career banker, Mayeenuddin has over 37 years of experience holding key management positions in different leading private commercial banks. He served Trust Bank as the MD and CEO till February 2021. Earlier, he served as the Additional MD, Chief Risk Officer and CAMLCO of the City Bank, DMD with Mercantile Bank and AB Bank and the Country Manager at AB Bank Mumbai Office for five years

Having completed MSS in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Mayeenuddin started his career at t AB Bank in 1984. He received the Bangladesh Bank Gold Medal. Mayeenuddin is the founder Chairman of the Association of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers of Banks in Bangladesh (AACOBB).

A life member of the Bangladesh Economic Association, Mayeenuddin is a renowned columnist, and writer, authoring more than two dozen books on banking, economics, fiction, translation and travelogue. He won IFIC Bank Literary Award in 2011, received Bangla Academy Award in travel writing category in 2019 and Citi-Ananda Alo Award 2019 for travelogue.

He also serves as Adjunct Faculty of East West University.
