Dhaka University Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Center for Gender and Development Studies organized a ‘Bangmata Lecture Series’ titled ‘Inclusive and Sustainable Development: Transgender and Current Perspective’ at RC Majumdar Arts Auditorium on Thursday. DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor ASM Maksud Kamal was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
The director of the organization, Professor Tanya Haque, presided over the program, while MP Arma Dutta was present as a special guest. The key article was presented by Fawzia Moslem, president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, and discussed by Professor Abdul Bachir, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, DU, and Arifa Yasmin Mayuri, President of Staircase Social Welfare Organization.
Mr. Maksud Kamal emphasized the inclusion of the transgender community in the mainstream of development in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and build an inclusive society, saying that social barriers must be removed. He called upon everyone to work from their respective positions to establish the rights and dignity of the transgender community.
