BM Desk

The police have arrested Mrs. Hosne Ara Alam under the arrest warrant of the state-owned Agrani Bank, as she is accused of being the defaulting borrower of the bank.

On Sunday, Dhanmondi police arrested her, and she is currently in jail. Mrs. Hosne Ara Alam is the Managing Director of NNA Auto Rice Mills Limited, the defaulting borrower company of Agrani Bank’s main branch.

Agrani Bank filed a suit (No. 524/2020) in Dhaka Finance Court-1 on October 1, 2020, with the aim of collecting Tk 31 crore, 10 lakh, and 78 thousand from the company.

In the said suit, the learned court issued an arrest warrant against the four defendants under Section 34(1) of the Artha Rin Adalat Ain, 2003 (Money Debt Court Act, 2003).

Earlier, the director of the same borrower organization, Ashiq Ibn Alam (father: AKM Khorshed Alam), was arrested.

On July 20, another defaulter of Dhaka’s Bangabandhu Avenue corporate branch of Agrani Bank, Sheikh Khajauddin, director of M/s Phoenix Leather Complex (Pvt.) Ltd., was also arrested by the police and sent to jail.
