Under the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, law enforcement agencies seized 5,500 kg of prohibited polythene in the Chawkbazar, Imamganj, Swarighat, and Lalbagh areas of the capital
Additionally, shop and supershop owners were cautioned against the use of banned polythene.
The Department of Environment conducted two mobile court operations in Khulna and Sirajganj due to the production and sale of banned polythene. This information was disclosed in a report sent by the Department of Information on Sunday (August 3).
Furthermore, a total fine of 10,000 taka was imposed in two cases for breaching Section 6(a) of the Bangladesh Environment Protection Act, 1995 (amended 2010).
An illegal lead battery factory was dismantled during an enforcement operation by the Department of Environment in Tangail. Two mobile courts were held to address air pollution caused by construction materials in West Agargaon and Ramna in the Dhaka metropolis, resulting in a fine of 30,000 taka across three cases.
The Department of Environment’s anti-pollution efforts will persist in the future.
